Lisa "aggressively helpful"
I’m Lisa, a 53 year old teacher who always has 14 open tabs in my brain. I’m the resident mother hen of our group. I have an instinct to mother everyone no matter your age. A trait that often puts me in the driver’s seat of any situation. I thrive in control, not for the sake of power, but because I believe everything runs better when someone is looking out for the details. I don’t call it being controlling; I call it aggressive helpfulness.
I have a blended bonus family of my own that I have the pleasure to be the mother hen. I’ve been happily married to my husband Dan for 25 years, we have 3 adult sons and also a bonus daughter and son along with 3 wonderful grandsons. If no one has told you yet, being a grandparent is the best part about getting old.
About the 14 tabs open in my brain, I’m easily distracted and have the attention span of a caffeinated squirrel. I often interrupt conversations to share something random or to ask a question that’s already been talked about. This is why I took on the role of secretary for our weekly book club meetings. It keeps me on task, sort of, unless my phone rings or an animal is in my view. I just can’t help it.
So, why am I in this book club? It’s not just for the books, it’s because this group gives me a place to roost. I’m here for the planning of our next road trip and the chance to look out for the friends who have become my chosen family. Book club is where I get to be in the driver’s seat of a journey that always leads back to laughter and fun with some reading along the way.
