Book Summary
One Summer in Savannah follows Sara Lancaster, who left Savannah 8 years ago following a traumatic sexual assault that left her emotionally scarred and pregnant. She left to protect her and her daughter Alana from her attacker’s powerful family and moved to Maine to heal. Reluctantly when she learns her father is seriously ill, she moves back to help him and his bookstore. While back, she discovers Jacob Wyler (the identical twin brother of her rapist) has also returned and is trying to rebuild his life and reconcile with the legacy of his brother’s crime.
Despite Sara’s deep emotional trauma, Jacob and Sara’s relationship slowly becomes closer through their love of poetry, introspection and emotional weight of unresolved past. The novel examines Sara confronting her past trauma, and facing the place and people connected to it and learning what forgiveness really means.

We started this book celebration on Friday night and made homemade pizzas like they did in the book every Friday. The travel day was on Derby Day, so we dressed up for the derby. Since one of our favorite motel bars is close to Savannah, IL, we finally stayed at the Swiss
