Book Summary

The Hunting Party is a tense mystery thriller about a close-knit group of college friends who reunite at a remote Scottish lodge to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Cut off by a brutal snowstorm, old secrets, rivalries, and grudges resurface. When one of them is found dead, it becomes clear that everyone has a motive- and the truth behind their friendships is far darker than it first appears.

I chose this book because I liked The Guest List by Lucy Foley, and at this point I was just starting to get into reading. For this book we stayed somewhat local in Princeton since the Scottish Highlands were a little out of budget. We had a pretend New Year’s celebration with a fancy feast matching some of the foods from the book, champagne and Sambuca. We brought nerf guns to the air bnb and “hunted” these same nerf guns may or may not have been used for nerf fights at some local bars too on our way home Sunday. 

During this trip we started a tradition and went to LeClaire and did the Ugly Sweater 5K and have done it every year since.
